So far I'm in love with beauty school, sure rolling a perm isn't easy, but it's so much fun! Seriously, I don't understand my classmates when they complain. In the future, we'll have the best jobs ever. And I've learned a thing or two about how to make my hair look better, which in turn, makes people trust me with their hair. A few tips I can pass on to ladies out there.
1. Your face is imperfect and not symmetrical. You are beautiful, but center parts make it more obvious that your nose is crooked or your left eye sits higher than your right. Rule #1 Never part a client with a center part...unless they ask. They don't always know better...or so I'm told.
2. Salon all the way. I thought I was doing good with my Aussie products, but after a stern warning from my teacher (and my mom buying herself and leaving for me some fancy shampoo) and 2 weeks of proper washing and conditioning I notice a HUGE difference in my hair's natural beauty and overall shine, etc. A tip to remember: Shampoo the scalp, condition the hair.
3. Don't dilute hair conditioner. Now that you have hopefully cheap and awesome salon products on your side you need to use them without wasting them. Shampoo the scalp right? But what happens when you mix conditioner with soaking wet hair? Back acne (from conditioner running down your back), diluted conditioner, and less than conditioned hair. If you don't have the weirdo tendency like I do to towel dry your hair to dampness before running conditioner through your hair, at least ring it out. Don't rub hair between your hands though. You aren't making a fire, and friction messes up your cuticles. (Image shingles like a roof when I say cuticle, if you rough them up they let in garbage and split!)
4. Faces have shapes. Not mind blowing, but important none the less. Have you ever wondered if you have oval, square, pear, round, or heart shaped face? Wonder how that coincides with your hair? Google it. I'm not a pro, but it doesn't take a pro to notice when something isn't right with sewinsew's hair. It's probably because she isn't appealing to her face shape. If you have a round face, you wanna make your hair tall, not wide. Wide makes you look even more circular. Which is not appealing to the eyes. Oblong faces shouldn't add height, like a snooki poof, or long straight locks because they look really long. See what I mean?
5. If you're reading this, you're wondering if this applies to you. Maybe the first two points do, but unless I've said to you, "have you ever tried doing this to your hair, it would really flatter you more" You're in the clear. I'm blessed with beautiful friends so none of you really need a lecture on face shapes and features. But it's good to know if you've ever wondered how you'd sport a short pixie or A-line bob.
6. I'm here for the party!! So far I've learned perms, relaxers, face shapes, and in the process of styling. Which means, if you need a fun hairdo for your birthday and you don't know what to do...I'd love to do your hair. I love playing with hair and every time I touch a head I learn more and get better. No charge of course. When I officially get my license though, you'll have to fork up a few bucks to get my time. lol Just a little.
I'm so thankful for the opportunity placed before me, and I won't take it for granted. I love to learn, and I'm trying so hard it annoys my 5 classmates. BUT! All this trying will reward me someday, if not mentally rewarding knowing I tried my hardest. I am so blessed, and I will try my hardest to continue to cultivate friendships and set a righteous example for my classmates. So far they already think my marriage is perfect. It is, but I don't want to make anyone feel bad so I don't say those words exactly. And they also know I won't curse or step outta line...and that I'm a snitch because my dad was a cop. *shrugs
I get Mondays off....so that would be the perfect day to call me and chit-chat or get your hair done. But not this Monday. It's Laundry day and we gotta register the car.
